Did we ever find out if Rubicante was telling the truth? I guess I expect him to be more like Barbariccia, who is utterly ruthless in everything she does. Also, the fire elemental archfiend seems like he would be the most dangerous of them all.

While you never find out for certain whether he is or not, I believe him. There’s no reason for him to lie and belittle Edge further - and while once more this is my own headcanon, I guess I always thought of the Archfiends having personalities of their own. Barbariccia and Cagnazzo are cruel and fickle and taunt their opponents rather a lot, because they think so highly of themselves; Scarmiglione is quiet and patient, and Rubicante is proud and fierce. While he might very well be the strongest of the Archfiends, there’s no reason for him to tote that about constantly. I guess it’s one of those things where I relate them to their elements, if that makes sense.
